The 9th Edition of the WCI Forum Kicks Off in Addis Ababa

The 9th Edition of the World Cooperation of Industries (WCI) Forum has officially commenced at the Addis Ababa Hilton Hotel, bringing together diplomatic communities, business representatives from Ethiopia and Turkey, dignitaries, trade counselors, and government officials.

 

In his welcoming address, Mr. Zekarias Assefa, Secretary General of Addis Chamber, highlighted that Ethiopia holds significant investment and business potential, which can be harnessed for broader social and economic development. He reaffirmed Addis Chamber’s commitment to facilitating business linkages between local and Turkish companies.

 

Held under the theme “Growing Together Better,” the 9th Edition of the WCI Forum has attracted a strong presence of local and international businesses, particularly from Turkey.

 

Mr. Utuku Benghasi, President of the World Cooperation of Industries (WCI), stated that Ethiopia is one of Turkey’s priority business destinations due to its vast potential for cooperation. He noted that Turkish manufacturers are optimistic about forming joint ventures with Ethiopian enterprises, and that the forum would help build the confidence and trust necessary for sustainable business partnerships.

 

In his opening address, H.E. Jantirar Abay, Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa and Head of the City’s Industry Development Bureau, emphasized that the government is working diligently to position Addis Ababa as the largest economic hub in the sub-region. He added that the city administration is improving the business environment by streamlining paperwork, introducing one-stop service centers, and enhancing infrastructure to promote business growth.

 

Co-organized by Addis Chamber, the 9th Edition of the WCI Forum will run until April 24, 2026.
