A high level leadership from Addis chamber led by the President Zehara Mohammed have discussed with the US embassy to bolster trade and investment between the two nations.
The team from Addis Chamber is warmly welcomed by Gwendolyn Green, U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission and Leon Skarshinski commercial Councilor at the embassy.
Addis Chambers’s president Zehara Mohammed during the discussion said that Ethiopia and US are countries with long years of diplomatic relations.
Addis chamber is also a long time partner of the embassy to enhance the business to business relations and explore diverse opportunities that both countries offers, she said.
Gwendolyn Green, U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission on her part said this kind of partnership will unlock both countries’ economic potentials notably by interconnecting businesses in both countries and cities across the US, she said.
Leon Skarshinski, commercial councilor at the Embassy said the collaboration between the two entities is critical in strengthening cooperation and expressed the interest of the embassy to boost the relationship of the two countries in business and economic aspects.
Zekarias Asefa, A/ Secretary General of Addis Chamber on his part said that the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa plays a pivotal role in fostering both domestic and international economic relations.
He therefore said the chamber recognizes the importance of building and nurturing a robust trade relationship with the United States and different chambers across the country.
According to the discussion trade between the two nations has immense untapped potentials.
Therefore, the chamber and the embassy are eager to explore new opportunities that can further increase trade volumes and foster a win-win partnership for businesses in both countries.
The discussion also highlighted about access to organized business information which are some of the challenges facing the Ethiopian private sector.
It is in response to this, the embassy can work, share, exchange or disseminate any business and investment opportunity information to members of Addis Chamber to help them make right decisions.
It is learnt that Addis Chamber had established friendly relationship with similar chambers in the US.
The Chamber and the embassy agreed to look forward to continuing this close collaboration, discussion and working together to create a more robust private sector and to unlock new opportunities for growth, trade, and investment.
Addis Chamber is one of the oldest chamber of commerce in Ethiopia and member of the international Chamber of Commerce serving close to 78 years supporting the business community.
