The 18th General Assembly of Addis Chamber has elected President, vice president and board members for tenure of two years.
Accordingly the 18th General Assembly has elected Zahara Mohammed as president, Abebe Gurmessa (Eng.) vice president.
In the meantime the assembly elected Tesfaye G/Kidan, Sara Solomon, Addisu Getaneh, Damte Dagne, Zahara Ahmed, Mesfin Gared, Girumnesh Yimer, Habtamu Hailu and Aycheluhem Kebede, as board members for a term of two years.
The 18th General Assembly was attended by high profile government officials from Addis Ababa City Administration.
In her key note address to the assembly, Habiba Siraj, Head of Trade Bureau of the Addis Ababa City Administration said that the new Chamber structure is aimed embracing Chambers dispersed in various sub cities of Addis Ababa under one structure.
The electoral process and voting procedure is also intends to participate business communities that have been marginalized from the Chamber system as well as legally registered businesses operating in the city, further reiterates Habiba.
Addressing the assembly, Buzena Siraj, speaker of the House of the Addis Ababa City Administration Council, on her part said that the existence of vibrant Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations are instrumental to envision vibrant trade and investment for any nation.
She went to say that Addis Ababa, the hub of Africa needs vibrant business communities and Chamber that is contemporary and fits the season.
She also calls on business communities to partner with the city administration and government to undertake advocacy efforts that protects the interests of businesses and economy at large.
The 18th General Assembly also heard the 2016 E.C annual performance and audit report that is endorsed by the assembly.
