Ethiopia–UAE Sketch of More Business Lines

The Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations announced that member companies are ready to do more business with Dubai, as part of Ethiopia–Dubai Connect, a special business forum.

Addis Chamber vice president Abebe Gurmessa( Eng.) said the event underscored the readiness of members from various sectors to engage with Dubai-based partners.

Amaha Hailegiorgis, Deputy Director General for the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Ethiopia pursues a forward-looking investment policy aimed at sustainable development and mutual benefit with partners. He noted that the government is reviewing trade and investment policies to adapt to changing global market conditions.

Dr. Jemal Beker, Ambassador of Ethiopia to the UAE, highlighted that more than 160 UAE companies are actively engaged in Ethiopia, spanning agriculture, manufacturing, and real estate. He stressed that considering Ethiopia’s geopolitical importance and the strong political commitment from both sides, greater business cooperation is anticipated.

Mohamed Ali Rashid Lootah, CEO and President of Dubai Chambers, reported that over 1,600 Ethiopian companies are operating in Dubai. He described this as a clear sign of growing business cooperation and noted that UAE-to-Ethiopia investment projects are increasing, reflecting mutual trust and confidence.

During the forum, more than 400 Addis Chamber member companies from diverse sectors engaged in discussions with visiting company representatives from the UAE side.
