According to the recent WB report, Ethiopia is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate variability and climate change that causes extreme weather events such as droughts, floods, landslides heat stress among others.
Such impacts according to studies are affecting livelihoods and economic development as well as GDPs of countries.
A midst of such hardships comes the joint efforts of Addis Chamber and the Confederation of Danish Industries (DI).
Through the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the two, an enormous capacity building trainings have been provided to business communities that envisions enhancing the awareness of business companies and manufacturers on the need to pursue green growth and sustainable business practices to ensure sustainability.
The water and energy training workshop that will be lasted for two days entertained water and energy efficiency practices among manufacturers challenges and way forward.
Convened at Radisson Blu Hotel, the two days training workshop on water and energy efficiency has attracted numerous stakeholders to discuss and exchange water and energy consumption habits, trends and experiences as well as challenges that emanates from different circumstances.
In his opening remark, Klaus Christensen, DI East Africa Manager, shares the practices of energy and water consumption of Denmark and in the meantime urges stakeholders to make use of the existing energy potentials of Ethiopia wisely and effectively to tackle poverty and to ensure economic development.
The training also hosted studies commissioned by Addis Chamber theme on the state of water and energy efficiency of manufacturers as well as shared best experiences of Denmark & EU. Besides to these, local manufacturers such as ELICO, one of the leading leather producers in Ethiopia, have shared their water and energy consumption practices, challenges to be taken as lesson.
