Addis Chamber President Mrs. Zehara Mohammed held productive discussions with Armenian Ambassador Sahak Sarkisyan

Addis Chamber President Mrs. Zehara Mohammed held productive discussions with Armenian Ambassador Sahak Sarkisyan on ways to promote business relations between the two countries. This is part of the broader efforts of the Chamber to bolster international trade and economic cooperation.

During the meeting, the president emphasized that Addis Chamber is ready to facilitate all necessary business platforms to help rebuild historical trade ties between Ethiopia and Armenia through respective chambers and business communities.

She also provided an overview of Ethiopia’s business opportunities and investment potential, encouraging Armenian companies to establish partnerships with local businesses.

Secretary General of Addis Chamber,Mr. Zekarias Assefa, highlighted the Chamber’s key activities over its eight decades of history. He noted that the Chamber has consistently advocated for the business community while also supporting policy reforms to be in place.

He further said that providing business support services, training, and international arbitration are among the leading services of the Chamber.

Ambassador Sahak Sarkisyan stated that Ethiopia is considered one of Armenia’s top priority countries due to its strategic importance for business. He described Ethiopia as a gateway to broader African markets.

While acknowledging that current trade levels between the two countries are below expectations, he stressed that it is time for both sides to strengthen their efforts and elevate business cooperation.

It was also recalled that the first President of the Addis Chamber, Mr. B. Babayan (1947–1961), was of Armenian origin.
