The Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations ( Addis Chamber) is taking part in a high-level seminar aimed at improving global economic governance for Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partner countries, which officially opened today in Beijing.
The opening ceremony, held on May 11, 2026, brought together a diverse assembly of leaders from various chambers of commerce, government trade and economic representatives, and industry experts from across the BRI landscape. The forum is designed to serve as a dedicated platform for experience sharing and deepening collaboration among partner nations.
The event is hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). In his opening address, Mr. Yang Xiaodong, Deputy Director General of CCPIT, underscored the critical need for collaborative governance to bolster economic resilience among participating countries. “Today marks a pivotal moment for us to unite in our efforts towards a more integrated economic future,” Yang stated.
Following the formal launch, attendees participated in targeted networking sessions, laying the groundwork for potential future partnerships and cooperative ventures.
The seminar is scheduled to run over the next two weeks , featuring a series of conferences, thematic workshops, and collaborative sessions designed to foster a cohesive economic governance structure among BRI member states.
