Addressing the Skill Gap: Addis Chamber conducts soft skill training workshop to prospective entrepreneurs

Often times companies and employers in Ethiopia complain about the performance of their employees and there are also efforts exerted on the part of the government and BMOs like Addis Chamber to address such kinds of concerns.
While there’s a growing youth population, many need more specialized training and experience required for areas critical to modern business success, like soft skills, digital marketing and communication skills.
This makes it difficult for startups to find qualified employees and compete on a global scale.
Amidst of such limbo comes Addis Chamber that strives to fill the skill mismatch that hampers productivity , and with this in mind Addis Chamber held a workshop that aims to bolster the soft skills of fresh graduates from TVET and higher educations.
The workshop highlighted the need to narrow the skill mismatch that is highly observed among manufacturing sectors in Ethiopia and measures such as this one are key instrument to address such gaps.
While sharing his experience to the workshop Yazachew Molla, researcher and consultant, mentioned that equipping soft skills to fresh graduates is instrumental to easily acquaint them with the world of work, whereas most graduates are short fall of such qualities, it is noted.
Yazachew also calls on universities and TVET to provide soft skill trainings to fresh graduates so that they will be effective while they get employed.
The workshop also forwarded an overview of the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem of Ethiopia where the country ranks 111th globally with numerous opportunities and challenges that needs to be addressed.
It is also disclosed that Addis Chamber to resume its endeavor of empowering prospective entrepreneurs to equip with the necessary soft skills and international partners such as the confederation of Danish Industry( DI) are commendable partners to undertake such projects in Ethiopia, it is learnt.
