The inaugural conference of the Ethiopian Family Business Forum held in Addis Ababa addressing challenges and opportunities for family owned enterprises

The Ethiopian family business forum is the first of its kind to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is the much anticipated event among business communities to tap on lessons and best experiences. Organized by HST Consulting in collaboration with Addis Chamber, the event brought together leaders from renowned family owned businesses across Ethiopia, representatives of business communities, young entrepreneurs among the few to cite.

Having the motto, “Passing the Torch: Sustaining Success in Ethiopian Family Business”, the conference has highlighted the importance of family owned businesses as major pillar for the Ethiopian economy contributing significantly for job creation and economic development. Yet they often face critical challenges that emanates from governance, succession plan, and maintaining family unity across generations, it was said during the conference. The conference has been an ideal platform to explore how family owned businesses can successfully survived, maintain family unity and thrive for future generations. It is also expected that the forum to laid foundation to build community where family businesses can learn from each other , share experience and collectively contribute to economic growth.

A panel discussion was also held inviting renowned family business leaders to share their success stories, challenges and the need to balance family and business to envision trans generational businesses.
