Addis Ababa, July 23, 2026: The Malaysia International Halal Showcase is one of the world’s largest halal trade events, serving as a gateway for businesses to enter the trillion-dollar Islamic consumer market. The 2026 edition is expected to take place in September in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and will attract more than 50,000 visitors from well over 100 countries.
In Ethiopia, the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations/Addis Chamber is the principal partner for the upcoming MIHAS 2026, helping its members take part in the event.
In his opening remarks during the briefing session, H.E. Mohd Afandi Abu Bakar, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia in Addis Ababa, noted that Malaysia and Ethiopia have enjoyed a long-standing relationship that is now gaining momentum more than ever before. He highlighted Ethiopia’s significance and its global strategic importance for forging economic partnerships, bilateral trade, and investment.
The President of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association Mrs.Zehara Mohammed , underscored the Chamber’s pivotal role in promoting trade and investment in Ethiopia through enhanced international cooperation, and called on members to fully utilise such opportunities to grow their businesses.
Similarly, the Chamber’s Secretary General, Mr. Zekarias Assefa, stressed that collaboration and synergy are the foundations of business success, essential to overcoming challenges and driving sustainable development.
Mr. Zamzuri Mohammed, Trade Commissioner of MATRADE, briefed participants on how to explore Halal opportunities with Malaysia and promoted MIHAS 2026.
