Second round Forum for Executive Leaders/FEEL Held in Addis Ababa
Addis Chamber April 3, 2024:
Jointly hosted by Addis Chamber and SAK, the series of events, Forum for Executive Leaders (FEEL) are being held hosting prominent business leaders in Ethiopia.
As part of this initiative, the FEEL hosted the prominent and renowned business person, Khebour Ghena, the former President of Addis Chamber and current Executive Director of Initiative Africa and Pan African Chamber of Commerce& Industry.
Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Khebour embarked his academic journey at the Gebre-Mariam French-Ethiopian High School, commonly known as, Lycee Gebre-Mariam, a French international school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and later pursued further studies in the US.
With long years of professional career, Khebour has spent both in Ethiopia and outside employed in various leadership echelons in major organizations such as UNDP, UNECA, Addis Ababa and Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce’s among the likes.
While sharing his long years of experience acumen, Kebour reiterates that the power of positivity and the spirit of winning mentality (it is possible) are key factors for successful leadership.
While serving as president of Addis Chamber he mentioned that he had faced skirmishes with the then administration that challenged his work.
He also said that successful leaders need to have qualities such as being selfless, decisiveness, courage, professionalism, ready to learn new things, passion for others and result oriented leadership skill among others.
Particularly leaders need to have passion and compassion towards their people or their employees to be successful and leaders are born to produce other leaders and not mere followers, he emphasized.
Promoting the culture of volunteerism in Ethiopia is key to successful leadership and leaders are also expected to respect the rights of women and the need to empower them politically, socially and economically for betterment of societies and institutions.
Currently a new window of opportunity has emerged for women that need to be fully unleashed like it is witnessed in developed nations.
While handing over certificate of appreciation to Khebour Ghena , President of Addis Chamber, Mesenbet Shenkute , acknowledges the dedication and commitment of the former to the betterment of Chamber of Commerce in Ethiopia.
