Habiba Siraj, Head of Trade Bureau of Addis Ababa City Administration pledges to support the current reform process being undertaken by Addis Chamber. Team of delegates led by Mesenbet Shenkute, President of Addis Chamber and Board members made extensive discussion with head of the city administration trade bureau, Habiba Siraj and her senior management.
In their joint meeting, Habiba calls for Addis Chamber to promote trade and investment of the city, and serving as a bridge between private sector and government. The two parties also signed MoU to boost trade related activities and common strategic issues. Mesenbet, on her part,emphasized on the need to closely work with the city trade bureau to further bolster trade and investment. She further reiterates the desire of Addis Chamber to host joint public and private platforms to materialize modern and active trade in the city. Mentioning out the current reform undertakings of the Chamber, Deputy Board Chair of Addis Chamber, Fasikaw Sisay, underlines the ongoing reform process of the chamber that envisions vibrant trade and investment in the city and active service delivery to business communities. “Government alone cannot be effective without the support of business communities and Addis Chamber”, remarks Habiba in her discussion meanwhile pledges to support Addis Chamber. She also calls on Addis Chamber to maximize the number of its members from currently 17,000 in a city that hosts more than 400,000 businesses.
She further vows to support Addis Chamber in its effort to protect the interests of its members while emphasizing the need to foresee vibrant trade for vibrant city.
