The ideals of sustainability are the central pillars of green growth and circular economy where Addis Chamber stood for it. Jointly with the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), Addis Chamber is striving to promote such notions to its members to adhere to the principles of sustainability to ensure resource optimization and create better future. Dubbed as “AACCSA’s Development of the Manufacturer’s Energy and Water Audit Scorecard” the latest workshop has brought together key actors of the energy and water sector, manufacturers, representatives of Danish Industries (DI) members of business communities among others. It is highlighted that manufacturing companies and businesses need practical tools and a strong framework that can guide them in assessing and optimizing their resource use. The training workshop also hosted series of presentations that dwells on overview of water and energy sector policies and practices in Ethiopia, enhancing energy water efficiency in manufacturing sectors. It is also noted that as the backbone of Ethiopia’s economy, the manufacturing sector holds immense potential to reduce its environmental footprint, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to the country’s sustainability goals thus urging the importance of scorecard as a pathway towards greater energy and water efficiency in manufacturing operations. It will empower businesses to evaluate their current resource usage, identify inefficiencies, and implement practical solutions to reduce consumption, lower costs, and ultimately minimize their environmental impact. Subsequent to such presentations participants have forwarded and shared their concerns and feedback as in put for the upcoming energy and water score card that will be developed by the Chamber ahead. Some of such concerns include the need to boost institutional capacity for proper optimization of resources, the need to enhance skill gap in the energy and water sector, the need to empower and support BMOs such as Chamber of commerce to advocate on such matters and designing strategies for water and energy resources among the few to mention.
