Addis Chamber and the Confederation of Danish Industries are working together to promote the potentials of agribusiness in Ethiopia. Having the theme Enhancing the papaya processing industry : national forum for association formation and strengthening fruit and vegetable networks, the workshop has attracted diverse stakeholders and partners such as Danish Industries and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition(GAIN), government ministerial offices such as ministry of industry , international partners such as DI , are among those presented.
During the workshop experiences of developed countries such as Denmark in terms of realizing effective agro industries were presented to discussants as lessons learned. Yet major challenges such as poor food culture of societies, little awareness about dried fruits such as dried papaya ,limited collaboration among stakeholders ,high cost of packaging materials and limited access to agricultural products are listed out as major challenges. In order to address such concerns and challenges participants calls for strong collaboration among key stakeholders such as farmers , TVET , SMEs for envisioning competitive and vibrant agro industries that accommodates massive jobs , access to nutrition and export market.
The workshop also emphasized on the need to form a network of agro industries such as fruit and vegetable networks to address the diverse challenges witnessed among agro industries and Addis Chamber to take the lead.
