Beijing Ethiopia Business Cooperation Promotion Conference held in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, June 21, 2024:
The “Beijing Ethiopia Business Cooperation and Promotion Conference” is one of the momentous events to connect businesses from Ethiopia and China, two strong allies from Africa and Asia respectively.
This gathering is also the outcome of long years of unwavering diplomatic commitment exhibited between leaders and peoples of the two nations since five decades, it is learnt during the conference.
Hosted by Addis Chamber jointly with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing, Sub-council (CCPIT Beijing), the event brought together businesses from the two countries, senior government officials of China and Ethiopia, Chamber of Commerce of the two countries.
In her keynote address to the conference, H.E Semereta Sewasew, State minister of Finance at FDRE, said that Ethiopia is an ideal destination for investment as the country offered conducive investment opportunities that have attracted Chinese businesses in Ethiopia.
Councilor of China’s Embassy in Ethiopia, Yang Yihang on his part said that the conference’s significance in boosting existing economic relations adding that China’s position as a major source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and trade exchange for Ethiopia.
“This gathering is the outcome of long years of unwavering diplomatic commitment exhibited between leaders and peoples of the two nations, which has brought glowing development outcomes” undersocres, Mesenbet Shenkute, President of Addis Chamber.
She further remarks that the Chinese companies to play pivotal roles in the construction sector of Ethiopia and built several mega infrastructural projects in the country.
Cooperation agreements are also signed between businesses and institutions of the two countries whereby Addis Chamber comes as one of those signatories with Beijing Chamber of International Commerce.
The event also entertained matchmaking events between businesses of the two countries.
